No movement in FS #HumanTrafficking case | News Article

The Hawks are yet to make another arrest in relation to the human trafficking case involving two 15-year-old teenage girls in the Free State.

The Hawks provincial spokesperson, Christopher Singo, says no other arrests have been made and that they are still looking for the suspect. Earlier the police indicated that a grown man was searched for after two teenage girls were found by the police at a tavern in Sasolburg, where prostitution was alleged.

OFM News earlier reported a 16-year-old girl, alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping of two other 15-year-olds, was arrested and charged with human trafficking. In December 2020 she was released into her parents' care and her case is set to resume on 21 January 2021.

The suspect and the victims are scholars at the Mafube Intermediate School and were reported missing in Phuthaditjhaba. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, previously told OFM News that their preliminary investigations revealed that the girls were lured from their homes and used for prostitution by unknown men.

Makhele added that the girls' school uniforms were found in a dustbin outside one of the girls' family home, which then prompted the investigation into their disappearance.
