A 37-year-old man who was nabbed for transporting alcohol in Clocolan and contravening the Level 3 regulations of the Disaster Management Act in the Free State faces deportation.
The suspect was held in detention following his court appearance on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the suspect was caught with alcohol in his vehicle, which has a Lesotho registration number.
He is also expected to pay R5000-00 for contravening the act.
Makhele previously said the suspect was arrested following a tip-off.
It's alleged that he tried to avoid a roadblock on the R708. As a result, his vehicle got stuck in the mud.
"Subsequently the suspect asked for assistance, however, the police were notified about the incident. On their arrival, the police discovered that the suspect had liquor that was packed inside his vehicle," he added.
The alcohol and cash hidden in a travelling bag were also confiscated.
Makhele said the suspect was arrested after he failed to provide satisfactory answers about the alcohol.
