This main street has reportedly not been maintained by the Emfuleni Local Municipality for many years.

Residents claim they were ignored by the municipality when they asked for assistance with tools to use in the cleaning operation.

Municipal communications officer, Makhosonke Sangweni, refuted this claim and says the municipality is not refusing to assist, adding the residents skipped the local municipality and went to the Sedibeng district municipality.

However, Sangweni elaborated that the local municipality has deployed a team to Sebokeng with the intention to assist.

Meanwhile, late last year, residents of Three Rivers fixed streets lights and potholes in Vereeniging.
