'Police dragging their feet with rape cases' | News Article

Disgruntled community members in the Vaal Triangle marched to the Sebokeng Police Station on Sunday, complaining that police drag their feet when investigating rape cases.

This march comes after a non-profit organisation dealing with gender based violence (GBV), Kwanele-Ho Lekane, said police allegedly demanded bribe money from a perpetrator who is reported to have raped his niece recently.

A group of less than 30 people marched to the Sebokeng Police Station to highlight their concern, and to appeal to police to prioritise rape cases.

No memorandum was delivered, however, the residents are hopeful their concern will be prioritised.

Attempts to obtain comments from the Sebokeng Police Station spokesperson, Teboho Lephoto, were unsuccessful.
