Weather cause of power outages - Centlec─── 15:59 Thu, 28 Jan 2021
Many suburbs in Bloemfontein in the Free State have suffered power outages because of heavy rain and bad weather conditions, according to Centlec spokesperson Lele Mamatu.
A 33 kV cable that supplies areas in Bloemfontein with electricity was temporarily damaged by heavy rains and bad weather. Mamatu informs OFM News that they are tending to the problem as a matter of urgency.
They have since been able to restore the power to the National Hospital, the Free State Psychiatric Hospital and the Showgate Centre via alternative Distribution Centres, says Mamatu.
Mamatu adds that they have deployed ten teams to administer all the affected equipment in all the affected areas.
Areas largely affected by the damaged 33 kV cable are Ehrlich Park, parts of Willows, Fichardtpark, Oranjesig, Hospital Park, Wilgehof, General de Wet, Pasteur, and Transnet CTC.
Complaints and area faults have been reported and will be attended to in due time, explains Mamatu.
