The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of more rainy weather in the eastern parts of the North West, northern parts of the Free State, parts of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.

A warning for disruptive rainfall has been issued for some parts of the country.

Rain can also be expected in the eastern parts of the North West and northern parts of the Free State.

“We do expect rainy weather to continue in parts of Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga for the next two to three days, in some places it might be heavy showers, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

“We do have an alert out of the possibility of disruptive rainfall over the eastern parts of the country, we have a good chance of thundershowers and possibility of heavy showers, especially over parts of Limpopo,” says forecaster Wayne Venter.

He says it is typical seasonal rainfall.

“We are in a good season, we have a good chance of more rainfall for the summer rainfall areas.”

Venter says the disruptive rainfall is likely to lead to localised flooding.

“Disruptive rainfall may lead to localised flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements or roads, low-lying areas and bridges.

“Rockfalls are expected in Gauteng, the eastern parts of the North West Province, northern parts of the Free State, Mpumalanga and south and south-western parts of Limpopo.”
