The party has filed a motion of no confidence against Dantjie and her deputy, Viola Motsumi. DA’s Chief Whip Freddy Sonakile in an interview with OFM News says the pair have brought nothing but disarray to the Provincial Legislature and as a result, fails to fully carry its oversight role. He says the legislature has deteriorated since the 6th administration took office because of Dantjie's poor leadership, maladministration and her deputy’s inaction.

Sonakile adds that they have written a letter requesting that the motion of no confidence is tabled and determined by secret ballot to avoid intimidation of members and for the two Speakers to recuse themselves when the process unfolds. Their request for a secret ballot comes just days after the ANC in the province suspended Premier Job Mokgoro and four other MPLs as party members for voting with the opposition in the election of the Chair of Chair position.

Sonakile says they are yet to receive a date as to when the House will sit for the motion.

The Provincial Legislature is meanwhile yet to respond to OFM News’ inquiry.
