Party blasts #Zuma and #Magashule | News Article

The Congress of the People (COPE) says it is shocked by the support ANC Secretary-General (SG) and former Free State Premier, Ace Magashule, as well as former President Jacob Zuma continues to receive from ANC members.

COPE's national spokesperson, Dennis Bloem, tells OFM News that the leader of the Black Consciousness Movement, Steve Bantubonke Biko, former President, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, and struggle icon Robert Mangaliso Subukwe must be turning in their graves because of the recent developments in the country.

He says the recent events involving Magashule and Zuma are shameful.

Bloem accused Zuma of mobilising members of the ANC to drive the country to a civil war.

His comments come as Magashule and ten other suspects, including former Mangaung Metro Municipality Mayor Olly Mlamleli, are due in court on Friday to face charges of fraud and corruption, amongst others, over a failed R255 million asbestos project.

"Biko died a brutal death in the hands of the apartheid security police, [and] his only sin was to fight for a free South Africa where the colour of one's skin will not count - a country where all will be equal before the law. PAC founder and struggle stalwart, Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe, never had a life of his own [and] the apartheid government brutalised this freedom fighter.

"He spent most of his life in prison and under draconian banishment. He gave his life fighting for the freedom of our country [and] he never sold our struggle till his death.

"Nelson Mandela led the ANC with integrity, high morality and dignity, fighting for justice, peace and a better life for all. Mandela was a champion for the rule of law. All his life he was an example to all of us to show respect for the rule of law," Bloem adds.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a group of ANC Free State members, calling itself the Radical Economic Transformation (RET), pledged their unwavering support for Zuma and Magashule.

The group also had a few words to say about the judiciary and the so-called white monopoly capital. They accused the judiciary of being influenced by this said white monopoly capital to persecute Zuma and Magashule.
