NW NPA regional head arrested for shoplifting─── 08:52 Sun, 21 Feb 2021
The ANC Women's League (ANCWL) in the North West says it is shocked by the arrest of the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) regional head of the Special Commercial Crime Unit, Jeanette Neveling.
This as Neveling was arrested and charged with shoplifting in Mahikeng.
The ANCWL says it is concerned as Neveling is the lead prosecutor in the court case involving former provincial MEC for Finance, Wendy Nelson.
NPA spokesperson in the North West, Henry Mamothane, confirmed to OFM News that Neveling appeared in court and was released on R500 bail.
"The NPA confirms that Jeanette Neveling was arrested and charged with shoplifting on Tuesday. We are currently studying the docket to make an informed decision. She will appear in court on the 4th of March 2021", said Mamothane.
Meanwhile, the ANCWL's acting secretary, Bitsa Lenkopane, says the league doubts the credibility of the charges, citing that this will delay Nelson's case.
Nelson is expected to appear in court on Monday, with the former Head of the Department of Health, Thabo Lekalaka.
