FS gears up to release matric results─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:12 Sun, 21 Feb 2021
The Free State Department of Education is gearing up for the much-anticipated release of the 2020 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results.
The department's spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, in a statement says MEC Tate Makgoe will this week release the NSC results on 23 February at the University of the Free State (UFS).
The event will be a first of its kind as five districts in the province will be viewing the event virtually in order to comply with Covid-19 regulations.
Ndaba says this year's results announcement will take a "hybrid approach which will entail six events - one in each district and the main event in Bloemfontein at the UFS South Campus."
The province will also be looking at preserving its number one spot after it had registered the highest number of matric learners who passed their 2019 NSC examinations.
"The five districts' events at satellite viewing venues will connect to the UFS South Campus studio in Bloemfontein via live stream, where the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, MEC Makgoe, Head of the Department (HOD), Advocate Tsoarelo Malakoane, other senior officials of the department and sponsors of the events will be present.
The MEC's announcement of the provincial 2020 NSC Results will be live-streamed on YouTube, with a minimal number of attendees, not exceeding 50 at each of the six venues," Ndaba adds.
Ndaba says no more than 50% of people will be allowed at the venue with respect to the regulations under Alert Level 3.
The five districts satellite viewing centres:
Bloemfontein: Tsoseletso SS
Bethlehem: Ntsu SS
Welkom: Leseding TS
