Responding to claims of non-payment, municipal media officer Makhosonke Sangweni says the municipality is currently experiencing a cash flow challenge, as demand for basic services rapidly increases.

Sangweni adds the municipality’s financial challenges were worsened by the attachment of its bank account, which resulted in failure to pay its creditors on time.

Municipal lead administrator, Gilberto Martins, is working with other officials to ensure creditors are paid.

The municipality is pleading for patience and cooperation from all affected creditors.
