This, after four schools – the Hantam High School, Hantam Primary School, Calvinia High School and Calvinia Primary School – have been closed due to Covid-19 positive cases. Spokesperson Elias Malindi says 36 positive cases have so far been reported and that schools will remain closed for a period of 10 days to allow for mass testing of learners, educators and for disinfection of schools. He appeals to parents and guardians to remain calm and keep all learners in isolation.

Meanwhile, a concerned mother of two learners at the affected schools, Dionay van den Heever, tells OFM News she is awaiting Covid-19 results of her daughter and advises parents to be careful and practise all precautionary measures.
