Departmental spokesperson, Tebogo Lekgethwane, in a statement confirmed the roll-out of the first phase of the vaccines is proceeding well.

During the tabling of the province’s budget by Finance MEC Motlalepula Rosho a week ago, it was announced that the health department will receive R14.1 billion for the 2021/22 financial year to strengthen their fight against the spread of the pandemic.

Rosho said more needs to be done to strengthen the health system in the province as it is at the front-line of the pandemic.

Highlighting the importance of the budget allocated for the Health Department, Rosho said the department will have to continue with its Covid-19 awareness campaigns and provide progress reports on the vaccination programme to communities.
