Husband of SABC presenter to plea on next court date | News Article

The estranged husband of SABC News presenter, Dimakatso Ratselane, is set to plea on his next court appearance at the Bloemfontein Regional Court.

This after his case was postponed on Thursday after making a short appearance. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, says the case against Mackenzie Ratselane was on Thursday postponed to 11 May 2021 for the possible plea.

Mackenzie, who was apprehended for allegedly stabbing Dimakatso multiple times, is facing several charges including assault, kidnapping, attempted murder, and the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition. The latter previously abandoned his bail application in the Magistrate's Court on his second appearance. The state previously said investigations into the matter are complete and the state will proceed with the case in the Regional Court.

Mackenzie was arrested by the police after he brutally attacked his wife. Before his capture, the latter went on the run for days. He was arrested in Ennerdale in Gauteng. His arrest came after Dimakatso was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds in Bloemfontein. Mackenzie and Dimakatso are said to have quarrelled on their way to fetch their children in Phase 2. She was later found by friends and residents in the Dinaweng area near a popular tavern and was subsequently sent to the Pelonomi Netcare Hospital
