Ottosdal drainage spillages to be addressed─── 09:40 Sat, 08 May 2021
The North West Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs has tasked a team to deal with drainage spillages in Letsopa near Ottosdal.
The area has problems with water shortages.
Community leader Zwelinjane Welemane told OFM News that they have written to the department numerous times asking for an intervention.
Speaking to OFM News, departmental spokesperson Dineo Thapelo said the team has done an assessment to determine the cause of the spillage.
The assessment revealed that the system is blocked due to insufficient water supply from a borehole.
At least two drains are overflowing in Extension 3.
She said the department will in the second part of assessment equip boreholes and then build a pump house to ensure there is enough water in the network.
