This, as the murder and robbery case against Sekwetje Mahlamba and Sekola Matlaletsa - which has been hampered by the unavailability of DNA results - is due to continue in the Senekal Magistrate's Court. 

The defense team wants the case against the duo - still in custody - to be thrown out of court due to the unavailability of DNA results following a backlog at the national forensic laboratory. 

The defense argues that the state is violating the rights of the accused by denying them a fair and speedy trial in terms of the Constitution. Meanwhile, in April the SAPS issued a statement in which they expressed satisfaction with the continuation of the DNA testing due to the availability of Quantification Kits.
