This, as Water and Sanitation Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, is set to meet with agriculture and mining sectors in Kimberley on Monday.

Sisulu is expected to brief them on the latest developments regarding the Vaal Gamagara Bulk Water Scheme.

The province is amongst those that have been hard hit by drought for many years, which resulted in several water challenges.

In recent years, residents in Kimberley and surrounding areas made national headlines when they embarked on service delivery protests in demand of sustainable water supply and brought the city to a halt.

During her visit to Kimberley on Monday, Sisulu will be expected to outline plans on how to address water challenges in the city and the entire province.

Meanwhile, she took to her social media platforms to announce that the Vaal Gamagara Bulk Water Scheme is very critical to the economy of the Northern Cape as it will impact all sectors, including boosting domestic use.
