Reward offered after torching of bus in Free State | News Article

A passenger bus of the Bloemfontein Interstate Bus Lines (IBL) was found burnt in Section T, Botshabelo, on Tuesday night.

According to a media release by IBL, the perpetrators of the incident are unknown as there were no passengers when the incident took place.

The CEO of IBL, George Mokgothu, condemned this criminal act and offered a reward of R200 000 to someone who will provide information to them and the police, in order to assist with the ongoing investigations and that will lead to the successful conviction of the perpetrators. “We confirm the burning of bus 4046 but, fortunately, no injuries were reported from that incident. We strongly condemn the irresponsible act that endangered property and innocent lives of our community,” said Mokgothu.

The bus line has also activated all cameras on its bus fleet, as a precaution for future incidents. Members of the public who have information regarding the incident have been urged to contact law enforcement authorities or the head of the interim investigation team on 071-683-5044.
