This, as the North West, Gauteng, Free State and the Northern Cape provinces are already experiencing the third wave of the pandemic. Tabling the Office of the Premier's 2021/22 budget, Mokgoro said it is extremely important for residents to abide by the rule and protect themselves. 

The province so far had 77 398 positive cases, of which there were 69 003 recoveries and 1 949 deaths. Mokgoro said they will continue supporting the Health Department, which is at the forefront of the pandemic, and all other departments. He highlighted the bulk of his office's R481 million will go towards administration, filling vacant positions, and funding bursary schemes, amongst other necessities.

"To this end, our Employee Health and Wellness Unit, working in collaboration with the Department of Health, will redouble its efforts to ensure that all public servants are empowered with the requisite knowledge to exercise the strictest observance to Covid-19 protocols, resulting in the protection of their colleagues, loved ones and family members," he added.
