According to a statement on the Sol Plaatje municipal Facebook page, residents are advised to plan for the water supply interruption from Thursday night 24 June 2021, until Saturday night 26 June 2021. The municipality described the disruption of water supply as one of their objectives to enhance the future security of water supply to the community and its surrounding areas.

Several water tanks, which include Jojo tanks, will be provided to the community as part of a precautionary plan during water supply interruptions. Various teams are anticipated to conduct repairs and replace air valves on the bulk supply line.

Businesses, schools, and hospitals are also expected to be affected during the operations and they have been advised to also ensure that enough water is stored. Community members are also requested to ensure that adequate water is saved during that period. The Sol Plaatje Municipality has also stated that the levels at the Newton reservoir will be kept at a maximum to ensure supply is restored after the work has been completed.
