According to the media statement issued by the Free State Department of Education, all teachers are expected to receive the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine and union leaders are expected to join Makgoe in vaccinating publicly. Makgoe has urged all teachers and non-teaching staff at schools to vaccinate under the theme “Drop all and vaccinate”.

“Vaccines are a vital tool in our fight against Covid-19. It’s crucial that we avoid any further disruptions in the school calendar, as learners are already suffering serious learning losses from the previous year,” said Makgoe.

Makgoe is expected to formally launch the provincial vaccination programme at the Gonyane Primary School in Bloemfontein on Wednesday, together with the Department of Health MEC, Montseng Tsiu.
