The Free State Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Thembeni Nxangisa, deemed the late politician and former president of the independent Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, as the last generation that restored their humanity.
This follows a UFS meeting he joined to reflect on the life and times of the late Kaunda.
“Reflecting on the life and times of Dr Kenneth Kaunda reminds us of a generation that fought for Africa and the freedom of its people. It reminds us of a generation that fought to restore the dignity and humanity of its people by teaching us that racism dehumanises both the perpetrator and the victim,” said Nxangisa.
Kaunda passed away on 21 June 2021. He was known for being at the forefront of the struggle for independence of his country. Nxangisa, further stated that Kaunda was part of the generation that gave life, educated, loved, led, and taught them.
