Protests flare up at #CUT | News Article

Students at the Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein have once against embarked on protests.

Protests at the main campus in Bloemfontein ensued on Sunday night with students expressing frustration over what they view as the university's failure to pay their allowances.

Some said they had nowhere to sleep as they are unable to pay for their off-campus residences due to the university's failure to pay their allowances.

The university made news less than a month ago with OFM News reporting on EFF-led protest action over similar concerns, regarding the non-payment of food and accommodation allowances.

The party's Bongani Bulawa, who is also a member of the SRC, then told OFM News they will continue disrupting classes and barricading entrances to the main campus for as long as their plight falls on deaf ears.

OFM News has meanwhile sent a media inquiry to the university.
