NC MEC encourages teachers, support staff to vaccinate as deadline approaches─── 15:49 Mon, 05 Jul 2021
The Northern Cape Education MEC, Zolile Monakali, has encouraged all educators and support staff to drop all and make use of this opportunity to vaccinate and contribute towards safer homes, schools and communities.
This comes after an ongoing teachers’ vaccination campaign #DropAllAndVaccinate. On Friday 2 July 2021, the Northern Cape Education Department had reported a steady progress, which amounted to 7 688 vaccinations that were done across the province. It was also reported that the number of educators and support staff that wanted to be vaccinated was increasing at all sites.
Monakali said more educators should present themselves for vaccinations as soon as possible in order for them to reach their target on deadline day, 8 July 2021. “To those who have not yet chosen the route of vaccination, we encourage them to urgently do so, as more evidence is emerging that those who are vaccinated are significantly protected from being fatally affected by Covid-19." Monakali thanked health workers for their commitment to ensure that vaccination sites are fully operational and those who stand ready to assist educators and support staff.
