Seven suspects, arrested in connection with drugs and the illegal possession of ammunition, are expected to appear before the Petrus Steyn Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
The suspects were arrested this weekend following a search and seizure operation at a house in Mamafubedu township near Petrus Steyn in the Free State. Police spokesperson, Thandi Mbambo, said the police deployed from Bethlehem made the arrest following a tip-off about unlicensed firearms and drugs being harboured and sold at the house.
She said upon their search, sachets of nyaope, bags of crystal meth, an undisclosed amount of cash and ammunition were found.
Mbambo confirmed six men aged between 25 and 32, and a 24-year-old woman, were arrested.
All of them are expected to appear before the court and investigations continue.
