N3 road users urged to be cautious─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:51 Wed, 14 Jul 2021
The N3 has been re-opened for travel between Harrismith in the Free State and Heidelberg in Gauteng.
This, after it was closed on Monday following sporadic violent activities in KwaZulu-Natal and the Gauteng province. The N3 Toll Concession confirms motorists can now use the roads, but appeals to them to proceed with extreme caution.
It is further confirmed that the N3 Toll Route between Cedara and Harrismith remains closed to all traffic.
OFM News previously reported that the roads were closed as a precautionary measure as protest actions continued to worsen across the two provinces. Motorists are urged to take heed of protests alerts and make use of alternative routes.
Meanwhile, Police Minister Bheki Cele during his address to the nation on the security clusters’ response to the public violence in parts of the country, said more police officers and members of the SANDF would be deployed to affected areas to restore stability.
