The Free State MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Limakatso Mahasa, sent a tribute to late South African music legend, Tshepo Tshola, after he succumbed to Covid-19 because of related complications.

Mahasa attributed the success of Mangaung African Cultural Festival (MACUFE) to artists of his calibre, who graced the festival from its inception and continued to play a major role throughout its historical span over two decades. She further stated that Tshola was amongst those who believed in strength and capabilities of local artists to attract international audiences.

"Covid-19 continues to claim the lives of our country's most celebrated cultural icons and loved ones. We are really saddened that death has struck our fraternity once more. We convey our deepest condolences to his family, friends, fans, and colleagues," said Mahasa.

She said that Tshola leaves behind a rich discography that will be treasured as part of his legacy. "Personally, I had the rarer honor of spending time with Ntate Tshepo Tshola from 2003 to 2005. He was indeed a father, leader and music genius. May his soul rest in peace," said Mahasa.
