According to Free State police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, a blue VW Polo with four passengers was pulled over, and the passengers' luggage was searched.

Police discovered a 9mm pistol in one of the occupants' luggage. The 33-year-old male suspect could not provide a license for the weapon, and he was arrested.

Free State Commissioner Baile Motswenyane praised the police and law enforcement agencies for their work.

"The effectiveness of this roadblock these past few days, is evidence that as a province we have all hands on the deck, with support of all law enforcement agencies in the province," said Motswenyane.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court on Monday. He is facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
