This, as three suspects who were arrested over the weekend for copper theft, are due in the Kathu Magistrate's court.

Three suspects aged between 25 and 65-years-old were arrested in possession of copper cables on Saturday in Kathu.

Police spokesperson, Mashay Gamieldien, says the police responded to a complaint of copper theft at the Kathu Village Mall where they met with security guards who caught one 25-year-old suspect stealing copper wire.

The suspect later led the police to an informal settlement where he allegedly sold the copper cable.

It was at the house of the second 65-year-old suspect where police found more copper cables in a store room. A 36-year-old neighbour was also arrested for the possession of suspected stolen copper cables with an estimated value of approximately R10 000.

They are due in the Kathu Magistrate's Court on charges of possession of copper cables.
