NC MEC pleased with increase in #Covid19 vaccinations─── 14:31 Tue, 20 Jul 2021

The Northern Cape Health MEC, Maruping Lekwene, has hailed all healthcare workers and stakeholders following a successful vaccination programme in the province.
This comes after he noted that a record of 29 783 people were vaccinated last week. According to the Northern Cape Department of Health's spokesperson, Lebogang Majaha, since the start of the vaccination programme in February this year, a total of 97 522 people have been vaccinated in the province.
“Provincially, there are over 90 permanent and temporary vaccination sites run by the public and private health sectors. In, addition to this, the department has intensified its rollout campaign by means of conducting regular outreach visits to far-flung areas in all local municipalities on a weekly basis. Members of the public, eligible for vaccinations, are advised to follow the weekly vaccination schedule published by the department on its social media platforms,” said Majaha.
Meanwhile, Lekwene was encouraged by the registration of people on the national Electronic Vaccination Data (EVD) system. He further appealed for more people to register for vaccines to curb the spread of the virus. Majaha stated that Lekwene is expected to continue his vaccination rollout oversights this week. On Thursday 22 July 2021, Lekwene will be part of the team that will be launching the vaccination programme for the Northern Cape's Correctional Services.
