NC employee in court after alleged illegal liquor sales─── 09:37 Mon, 26 Jul 2021
Following the reopening of liquor stores on Monday 26 July 2021, a 38-year-old liquor store employee is expected to appear in the Prieska Magistrate's Court after he was allegedly selling liquor illegally on Saturday.
Liquor stores were permitted to reopen on Monday as the country moved down to lockdown level three because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This is according to a statement that was issued out by the Northern Cape South African Police Services (SAPS). The suspect was reported to have contravened the adjusted level 4 Covid-19 lockdown regulations which prohibited selling liquor to the public.
The latter was allegedly caught selling liquor on Saturday 24 July 2021 after police members of Prieska were conducting crime prevention patrols in the CBD. They noticed suspicious activities at the liquor store in Stewart Street. The suspect was found in possession of cash, presumed to be from the prohibited sale of liquor.
