This, after he had to close a popular retail store in Zeerust for failing to comply with lockdown regulations. Lehari says it is unacceptable that there are residents and businesses in the province that does not adhere to the lockdown curfew, nor limit the number of people allowed inside.

Following an oversight inspection in Zeerust, Lehari in a statement says they will be conducting more unannounced inspections across the province to ensure that local businesses do not transgress Covid-19 regulations. Lehari says the number of positive cases in the province is of concern and everyone must comply with regulations. His statement comes as the number of active cases in the North West stands at 22 397. Over 98 000 have recovered and over 2 800 succumbed to the virus.

"It concerns me when even big retailers don't ensure that they put measures in place. Covid-19 still exists and people must comply without being reminded because this is about every citizen's life," said Lehari.
