NC vows to improve sporting infrastructure─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:06 Fri, 30 Jul 2021
Infrastructure development and investment in the youth is paramount to the Northern Cape province. This is according to Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, MEC Abraham Vosloo.
Speaking to OFM News at the arrival of South Africa's youngest Olympian, Boipelo Awuah, who had to make an early return to her hometown of Kimberley because of an injury, Vosloo confirms more still needs to be done to support young people in the province.
He said Awuah has not only placed her hometown on an international map but serves as an inspiration to her peers. The 15-year-old had to withdraw from the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games due to a pelvic fracture.
Vosloo says the province is regarded a top extreme sport province and vows to ensure that much investment goes into infrastructure development. He says this will also alleviate social-ills experienced by the youth of the Northern Cape. The province is currently amongst those plagued by high unemployment rates.
