According to Northern Cape police spokesperson, Brenda Muridili, three unknown, armed males entered the police station and two jumped over the counter, overpowering the police officer who was on duty. They demanded the firearms at gunpoint.

The police officer opened the safe after the armed suspects demanded the keys. Moridili confirmed that three R5 rifles with two magazines and 37 rounds of ammunition, two 12 bore-pump action shotguns with 103 rounds of ammunition, eight 9mm pistols with five magazines, and 98 rounds of ammunition were robbed.

She further said that after the 15 firearms were taken, police officers who were on duty were then tied with a cable. After tying up the police, the suspects left. The police officer managed to loosen the cable and called another police officer for help.
