The Hawks' provincial spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, says a 41-year-old suspect has been arrested following a robbery that took place at the Tsineng Police Station on Saturday.

This comes after they issued a reward of R50 000 on Tuesday for the arrest of three gun-wielding suspects who robbed the station at gunpoint and fled the scene with guns and live ammunition.

Mnisi further adds that the suspect was nabbed following a tipoff and all items have been recovered whilst more arrests are imminent.

The South African Police Service's (SAPS) multi-disciplinary team recovered the firearms on Tuesday at Promise Land, 5km outside of Kuruman.

"On Saturday, 31 July 2021, three armed suspects entered the Tsineng Police Station pretending to file a complaint and whilst the police official was busy addressing them, one of the suspects jumped over the counter and pointed her with a firearm," she explains.

Mnisi further adds that the police officer was then ordered to open a safe and suspects managed to flee with eight pistols, three rifles and two shot guns with live ammunition. No shots were fired and no injuries were sustained.

"Anyone with information should contact the Hawks’ investigating officers, Colonel Mgcineni Christopher Sityodana on 071 481 2802 or Warrant Officer Micheal Modise Bogacwi on 082 495 0819, or contact the police Crime Stop number 0860010111 or use My SAPS App.  All information provided will be kept in strictest confidence," Mnisi allude.
