NW MEC disputes being placed on special leave─── 10:32 Sat, 07 Aug 2021
North West Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Mmoloki Cwaile, says a statement about him being placed on special leave is misleading.
The statement, from the office of the premier, announced that Cwaile was indeed placed on special leave. But in response to this, the MEC says that it is not how he understood a communication between him and Premier Job Mokgoro.
Cwaile says that he is meeting with Mokgoro in hopes of sorting out the misunderstanding between the two parties.
He disputed the processes and legalities of how the process unfolded.
The statement from Mokgoro's office had placed Cwaile on special leave without outlining reasons for this decision.
Cwaile says that he is meeting with Mokgoro in hopes of sorting out the misunderstanding between the two parties.
OFM News previously reported that Cwaile's position as Cogta MEC has come under fire before the Provincial Legislature several times for the deteriorating state of municipalities.
It was also reported that the latest Auditor-General (AG) report shows that the majority of municipalities in the province are in dire straits, unable to generate revenue nor provide services, with four municipalities still crippled by their R314 million investment in the now liquidated VBS Mutual Bank.
