FS child rapist sentenced to life in prison─── 09:29 Sat, 14 Aug 2021
The case against a 34-year-old rape accused, Nzimeni Faniswa, concluded this week when he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Brandfort Regional Court in the Free State.
The victim, a 12-year-old girl, received justice this Women's Month after Faniswa was handed down a life sentence.
Provincial police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says the incident was first reported in November 2019.
"On 16 November 2019, the victim was alone at home whilst her aunt went to a nearby tavern with the accused. Unbeknown to the aunt, the accused left the tavern and went back to the house where he raped the 12-year-old girl," Makhele explains.
The following morning the victim reported the incident to her aunt, who alerted the police.
The accused was sentenced on 12 August 2021.
