Mangaung speaker upbeat about reducing risk of #Covid19─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:13 Mon, 23 Aug 2021
The newly-elected speaker of the Bloemfontein-based Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM) in the Free State has reiterated the importance of reducing the rate and risk of Covid-19 infections across the metro and in the province.
Mapaseka Mothibi-Nkoane says it's important to reduce the number of infections and avoid the ripple effects of the virus on the metro's economy, which is the economic hub in the province. She says the results have shown that those who seem to be at the receiving end of these adverse effects are mostly women. Mothibi-Nkoane says this is a result of many companies closing down because they are unable to deal with the financial effects of the National Disaster Management Act.
Mothibi-Nkoane was alongside the MEC for Health, Montseng Tsiu, during the launch of the K-La-K vaccination roll-out this past weekend in Bloemfontein. The new speaker spoke at length about the municipality's involvement in the roll-out of the vaccine.
