#MangaungShutdown protesters rally for change─── 06:22 Tue, 24 Aug 2021

Hundreds of protesters aim to take to the streets of Bloemfontein on Tuesday, as the #MangaungShutdown movement is revived.
The organisers of the march expect a group of at least 500 people from all over the Mangaung Metro to join, in a show of solidarity regarding their discontent with the metro municipality.
The organiser of the march and chairperson of the Mangaung Service Delivery Forum (MSDF), Potso Motoko, tells OFM News one of their grievances is the high price of electricity – with power supplier Centlec their first port of call. He says the rising prices, coupled with unreliable power supply and electricity cuts, are unacceptable.
The group is set to gather at Hoffman Square in Bloemfontein at 09:00 today. Following their march to Centlec, they will move on to Destea to highlight alleged relief grant disparities. Their last stop will be the municipal headquarters in Bloemfontein.
OFM News reported that the shutdown movement, in May 2021, caused the disruption of schools and lead to major unrest.

As the first wave of service delivery protests hit Bloemfontein, violence erupted - leading to the death of a child, allegedly at the hands of a security guard who fired shots to disperse the crowd, hitting 14-year-old Jevano Liam Siegel in the process.

Meanwhile, Potso says they will give all parties concerned seven days to respond to the grievances they plan to air during Tuesday's march.
