The Free State Health Department urges the public to head to the vaccination site at the Cheetahs' Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.

People can either get vaccinated at the drive-through or they can walk through to the vaccination stations. Dr Noor Zakhura, clinical head of the Covid-19 programme in the province, says in the last month there has been ups and downs with regard to people attending vaccination drives and stations in Bloemfontein. This is mainly caused by misleading information about vaccinations being distributed by some media outlets and on social media, sending out the wrong message.

“Please take note, the vaccine is similar to a seatbelt. When you get into the car, you need to make sure you wear your seatbelt. What does it do? It protects you from going through the windscreen. What does the vaccination do? It protects you from ending up in the ICU or hospital,” Zakhura says.

Zakhura says “currently the areas in need of the most attention, is the Mangaung and Thabo Mofutsanyane areas.” Those are the areas with the highest number of people who needs to be attended to, he adds.
