NC vows to promote tourism to boost economy─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:17 Sat, 04 Sep 2021
With September commonly known as Tourism Month, the Northern Cape province says it is all hands on deck to promote domestic travel.
MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Abraham Vosloo, tells OFM News they will be embarking on a week-long visit to various parts of the province to promote the tourism industry and showcase what the province has to offer.
Vosloo confirms this industry continues to be hard-hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, with many businesses still battling to break even.
He, in an interview with OFM News, confirms his department together with the Office of the Premier and the Northern Cape Tourism Authority are hard at work to ensure that the industry develops and continues to make a contribution to the province’s economic growth.
The latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) painted a grim picture of job losses in the industry, with many people now calling on the new Tourism Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, to revive the tourism industry to boost employment.
