A shop owner in Ritchie in the Northern Cape has died after he was shot during a business robbery.
The 28-year-old foreign national was shot dead in the presence of his wife and child last night during a business robbery by three gun-wielding masked men.
Police spokesperson, Mashay Gamieldien, says the three unidentified men entered the shop and threatened the owner and his wife with firearms. The shop owner and his wife were taken to a back room where they were tied up by the suspects.
Gamieldien says the owner died on the scene after he was shot.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register before fleeing the scene in a white Ford Ranger bakkie with Gauteng registration plates.
Meanwhile, Gamaldien says that the police in the province has implemented a 72-hour Activation Plan to apprehend and arrest the suspects by mobilizing all specialized units.
"The Provincial SAPS Organised Crime Detectives are investigating a business robbery and murder after a 28-year-old foreign shop owner was fatally shot inside his supermarket in Richie in Modderriver.
"The incident allegedly happened on Saturday 25 September 2021 at about 19:00 when three masked men entered the shop. The suspects threatened the owner and his wife with firearms.

The investigation continues.
