Disgruntled MCC members vow to keep Pacofs’ building closed - VIDEO | News Article

Disgruntled members of the Mangaung Concerned Community (MCC) have vowed to disrupt operations at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs) until their demands have been brought to the fore.

This after MCC members stormed into the Pacofs building and evicted workers earlier on Monday, following allegations of sexual harassment against a senior manager, maladministration, and bullying. One of the MCC leaders, Donald Constable, earlier told OFM News that their action to shut down operations was motivated by the arrogance and refusal of the CFO to engage with the group over allegations that were brought to the fore at the embattled facility. Donald says their goal of shutting down the Pacofs building was successful and they are hoping to keep it that way until the CFO and the CEO engage with them.

“This will make them come to the table and engage about this matter. These matters must be resolved. You cannot have human beings working like animals, being victimised at the workplace. You cannot have a case - for sexual harassment and GBV - against a senior manager and yet he keeps on working. We cannot allow that. A public institution like this is being privatised by outsiders of Bloemfontein, we cannot allow that,” said Donald.

OFM News’ Olebogeng Motse reported earlier that the acting head at Pacofs in Bloemfontein has formally laid a complaint with the police, alleging that she has been intimidated and has received threats from unknown individuals since taking over the leading role in April 2021.
