According to the DA's spokesperson in the Free State, Khangelwa Kolosa, these municipal executives - mayor Irene Mehlomakhulu, Municipal Manager Selby Selepe, and former MEC for Cogta, Thembeni Ngxangisa - chose to turn a blind eye in the case regarding the alleged unauthorised and irregular expenditure amounting to R282.1 million incurred by the municipality in the past financial year. This while residents of Mohokare struggled with various service delivery challenges. No one has been held accountable, says Kolosa.

"Those responsible must be held accountable. It is time to get things done. Another five years with a careless administration will collapse the municipality and leave residents in a far worse state than what they are currently in," says Kolosa.
