Blind woman receives wheelchair to improve quality of life─── 09:55 Thu, 04 Nov 2021
As an early Christmas gift, an elderly woman from Siyathemba in Kathu in the Northern Cape received a wheelchair to improve her quality of life.
The Chara’s Cares charity recently donated the wheelchair to the 78-year-old blind granny to improve her mobility and living conditions, especially when she has to visit the local clinic for medical treatment.
Police spokesperson in the province, Mashay Gamieldien, says the elderly woman was raped in June 2020. The suspect was arrested for rape and is currently in custody.
“The emotional granny prayed for the members and also praised them for the generous and valuable gift that will allow her to move around more freely. Although this kind gesture will improve the quality of the victim's living conditions, the scars of the heinous attack will forever be remembered by her,” says Gamieldien.
