FS police, farmers work together against suspected stock thieves─── BLAINE JONES 08:48 Thu, 18 Nov 2021
Farmers and police at Warden in the Free State worked together to stop a suspicious vehicle with a trailer, that was travelling on farm roads towards the N3 highway near Roadside, transporting 12 cattle.
Farmers at Warden became suspicious when they saw two bakkies from Vanderbijlpark pulling a trailer. They gave chase and also contacted local police stations for assistance as part of Rural Safety. Police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring, says they managed to stop the bakkie and two suspects allegedly fled on foot into the nearby farms. The other bakkie couldn't be traced.
"It was discovered that the suspects cut fences on the neighbouring farm where the cattle were kept and loaded them. They were taking a shortcut towards the N3, heading back to the Gauteng Province.
"All 12 cattle, worth thousands, were handed back to the lawful owner. A case of suspected stolen property is being investigated."
