As the Free State province is connected to five national key roads - the N1, N3, N5, N6 and N8 -, it sits at the heart of the country.

The provincial department of health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi says the department encourages the public to continue using the Covid-19 prevention methods that have been put in place this holiday season - including the use of masks, social distancing, and the use of hand sanitizers. In addition to these, they strongly encourage all eligible people to get vaccinated.

Mvambi explains that the combined use of preventative methods have reduced the rates of infections, sickness, hospitalisation and even death. “We thus encourage people to adhere to these measures in the absence of a cure for Covid-19 infections,” said Mvambi.

The department would like to appeal to everyone to ensure that they play their part to save the country. The province ranked second behind the Western Cape in performance of its vaccination programme. Another 8% of the Free State public needs to get vaccinated by the end of December 2021 in order to reach the 70% target, which is around 111 000 people.

“Let’s all get vaccinated for the love of our country, our continent, the world and all its people.”
