FS sees decline in positive #Covid19 cases─── TSHEHLA KOTELI 11:47 Sat, 27 Nov 2021
The Free State has seen a decline in the number of Covid-19 positive cases, as there has been a 25,5% decrease in positive cases when compared to the previous week.
The spokesperson for the provincial Department of Health, Mondli Mvambi, says there was a 31,3% decrease in hospital admissions and 26,4% decrease in hospital deaths in the previous 14 days, compared to the prior 14-day admission average.
Mvambi explained on Thursday that the department has seen the test positivity rate decrease by 0.7% in week 45 compared to week 44 to an average of 1.6%, which is still above the national average of 1.1%.
Furthermore, the department would like to encourage those that so far only had a single dose of the vaccine to get their second jab in order to be fully vaccinated.
OFM News previously reported that the department encourages the public to continue using Covid-19 prevention methods that have been put in place this holiday season. These methods include the wearing of masks, social distancing as well as the use of hand sanitisers. The combined use of preventative methods has reduced the rates of infections, sickness, hospitalisation and even death.
