Residents barricaded roads with burning tyres, tree branches and stones last night, demanding answers from the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality.

However, the police are on the ground monitoring the situation, which seems to be calm at the moment.

OFM News reported earlier that the municipality has mentioned that the heavy rainfall in the area has damaged the transformer.

Meanwhile, a communication officer of the municipality says the transformer is expected to be delivered on Monday.

"The municipality has already secured a license for abnormal load transportation as required by law."
