The EFF and DA say reallocating money from one department to the other is not a solution but rather seems to be exacerbating the issues which end up severely affecting service delivery.

DA Member of the North West Provincial Legislature, Watson Rabotagi, says some departments, like Health, are trying their best to address issues of service delivery and the relocation of funds could help the department to further improve in its endeavours.

The provincial secretary and also MPL, Papikie Babuile, say they hope that Rosho will make an announcement on the budget allocation for the supply of water in the province.

“Supply of water is a serious problem currently, we also expect the MEC to touch on the allocation budget with regards to enough budget for health to make sure that there are enough medicines around clinics because there are issues with the supply of medicines, including the issue of the renovations of Excelsior Nursing College in Klerksdorp and Mmabatho Nursing College,” he adds.

Meanwhile, following the recent tabling of the Medium Term Budget and Policy Statement (MTBPS) by Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana, Rosho is expected to make announcements on how the province plans to implement cost-cutting measures and how it plans to reallocate funds to projects of high priority. Her Adjustment Budget will also seek to address the roll-over of unspent funds from the preceding financial year. Rosho is also expected to shed more light on how the province is continuing to respond and address the economic and social ills caused by the Covid-19.
